Software Developer Mentoring

I know what it is like to be a new software developer, overwhelmed with so many new technologies and terms that I’d never heard of.  It’s uncomfortable and for some can be a little discouraging.  What I have learned over time is – it’s usually not as complicated as it seems.  You just need exposure to it or to simply find out what it is.  I remember I would find out what “[insert complicated sounding term]” was and thought to myself, “Oh that’s it?” – unimpressed. There’s no need to back away from the technology or term just because it’s currently unknown to you.

You can greatly accelerate this learning curve process by learning from someone who’s already been there and already has the experience and knowledge.  I did a lot of self-taught, lone-wolf struggling in the beginning of my career – but going back, if I had a mentor, it would have greatly sped things up.  I could have saved a lot of unnecessary blood, sweat, and tears and most importantly – TIME. Today I’ve realized, you can save so much time and frustration, by just reaching out for help and asking questions. It doesn’t matter where you are in your career – developers at any level still have to learn a new skill or a new way to solve a problem ALL. THE. TIME.

That being said – I am here to help you in the areas of expertise I have and can offer software developer mentoring. I truly do enjoy helping others at any level learn either a new skill, troubleshooting/debugging a project, or providing developer career and interview advice.  It’s just part of who I am.  I’m working my way to rise up and I want others to rise up with me.
